The Banqueting Table works with single moms. It is a catering social enterprise training, mentoring and offering work for women. All gratuity goes into a scholarship fund and that fund has helped mothers earn certificates and degrees and find jobs elsewhere. Joanne Laubach and Brenda Snowden lead this company that started out in a church kitchen and today they are partnered with a fabulous coffee shop Andrews on 8th. This social enterprise has an excellent menu. Their services and presentation is superb and they can compete with the best of caterers. The difference I think is that you smile with them knowing that by booking them you are helping these women and their families and thus making a better world for us all. .
Cafe of Contemporary Art was our favourite spot for meet ups and our pop up team meeting space. Best of all, this gallery, taco bar, and coffee shop supported artists and created monthly events for the community. We not only set up our own charity event in their space, we also shared studio space for a season. “The arts” is one of the least funded in our society. Thus, the owner created space and a business to beat the odds and make a difference. They are now in the Commercial Drive area in Vancouver. Hope you get to enjoy their food creations as seen in this gallery.
What people do with what they love is incredible. These companies and their founders truly embody this quote: “Take your passion and let it help a great need in our world.”
